Mercury, Saturn and patient problem-solving

Mercury is the ruler of the first house and falls in the tenth house. That describes how his life's path was centred around his career.

Mercury and Saturn in his chart, in Uttara Bhadrapada, are in conjunction, which in this chart is a sign that he's a patient problem-solver.

In one of the quotations credited to him, he described himself as a patient problem-solver and not a genius. I believe that's largely linked to Mercury and Saturn.

Jupiter, lifelong study and Dhanishtha fame

The tenth-house ruler in both the main chart and the Navamsha falls in the ninth house. The ruler is Jupiter, which signifies that he was meant to be a lifelong student.

The ninth house is the twelfth house from the tenth. He was meant to build his career permanently in a foreign place, which has been his life story.

He moved away, and we'll come to those relocation timelines. Jupiter in the ninth house in Dhanishtha is a sign of massive fame. I've always mentioned that a Dhanishtha native can attract fame, and when Jupiter is there, fame can be massive.

Purva Bhadrapada and research

What exactly was he meant to be famous for? This brings me to the constellation of Purva Bhadrapada. Sun in his chart is in the tenth house in Purva Bhadrapada.

Aja Ekapada was all about bringing a change in society. A fist in the air: we can do this, we can transform the world.

If you have to bring some form of change in society, it has to be born out of the eighth house. What do I find here? The ninth-house ruler is Saturn. Rahu is in the eighth house, and the eighth-house ruler is again Saturn, which goes into the tenth house.

What I find beautiful in his chart is the connection between the eighth, ninth and tenth houses: the house linked to future research, the future driven by higher education and the career. In my view, that connection explains his scientific endeavours.

Ambition, imagination and large-scale research

Furthermore, he has Moon in the constellation of Jyeshtha in the sixth house, which symbolises his desire to be the best in his line of work and that he can be behind scientific inventions of some kind.

Since the Moon doesn't have anyone as company, that's a sign the individual can find the necessary motivation to go after one's goals.

Venus in the tenth house in Revati is exalted, which is a sign that he can have a very inventive way of doing things and can be blessed with a natural imaginative ability, something others may not have thought about. He may have the capability to imagine future possibilities somehow.

Mars, ruling the money house and placed in the eighth house, is an indication that his research would be on a large scale and perhaps have global consequences, which was the case.

Education and relocation in 1895

Let us go through some important events in his life and map them through the Dasha table. This may help you understand how to read it.

In 1895 he was in the process of moving into Venus's Mahadasha from Ketu, and at that time a life-changing event took place.

He moved from Germany to Zurich in Switzerland to pursue higher education. That was the first time he relocated.

The 1905 miracle year

Then 1905 is classified as a miracle year for him, as he came up with all kinds of equations and changed how physics was pursued thereafter.

At that time he was going through Venus and Rahu's chapter. Now anyone wanting to change the future has to be linked to Rahu, in my view. Rahu is all about imagining a future in a different manner, and Rahu in his chart is in the 8th house. I've already mentioned that Rahu is also linked to the 9th house, the house of higher education. Secondly, Rahu in his chart has a direct relationship with Mars.

His career is directly linked to Rahu in several ways, and Rahu is always behind scientific inventions of some kind. At that time, the Mahadasha was of Venus. Venus in an exalted position, Rahu as the Antardasha and Rahu's position in Uttara Ashadha are justifications behind this being a miracle year for him.

Marriage, divorce and a new beginning

Early in 1903, right at the beginning of this Venus and Rahu chapter, he was married. I've always maintained that if a person is about to enter Venus and Rahu's time phase, there's every possibility of the individual experiencing companionship.

But I also find Ketu in the marriage house in the Navamsha, which is a strong indicator that early marriage could lead to complications. Saturn in the tenth house in the main chart also signifies that his work might come in the way of his marriage.

It happened during Saturn's Antardasha in early February 1919: he divorced his first wife and then married again. Under Ketu's chapter or Saturn's chapter, he was meant to go through some difficulty in his marriage. It happened under Saturn, and he decided to marry again.

If Jupiter is somehow linked to the marriage house, I think there's every possibility of the person being able to start life again and marry again.

The 1921 Nobel Prize and money

In 1921 he was given the Nobel Prize. At that time, he was going through Sun and Venus's chapter.

Venus can bring fame, and that too on a material plane. His Nobel Prize was also accompanied by a hefty cheque. I think in today's money it was about 500,000 US dollars or more than that. Venus brought him that good fortune.

If you look at the money house in both the main chart and the Navamsha, it is ruled by Mars in the main chart, with Mars in the eighth house. In the Navamsha, it is ruled by Saturn, which also falls in the eighth house. That's a sign that his fortunes from a money point of view were always going to fluctuate.

He did win this big prize money, but when he divorced his first wife he gave away all that wealth. He didn't live a life full of luxury or comfort; he lived a normal life. His chart isn't suggesting he was going to be a wealthy individual. He was going to get worldwide recognition, as Jupiter is in Dhanishtha, and that he did.

Exile and the 1933 US move

In 1933 Hitler came to power, so he decided he needed to move elsewhere. That was the time he was going through Rahu's chapter, and I've mentioned time and again that Rahu's chapter can lead to relocation.

Jupiter in his chart, ruling the tenth house, is in the twelfth house from the tenth house, in the ninth house. That is a strong indication that he was meant to build his life in a foreign place. During Rahu, circumstances were created for him to move elsewhere.

He first moved to Belgium, then England and finally, by late 1933, to the United States. That's where he stayed for a very long time, all the way to the end of his life. After the Mars chapter, he entered Rahu's Mahadasha and must have done his best work there. He left the world in 1955, right at the end of Rahu's Mahadasha.

E = mc² and a spiritual metaphor

I'd like to go back to his miracle year, 1905, when he invented the formula E = mc². If you imagine yourself to be the mass and you're 17 kilograms, calculating how much energy is stored within you would produce a very big number. I think it would be more energy than a hundred thousand bombs like the one thrown on Hiroshima would produce.

That got me thinking that there is this massive energy frozen within us. It's sleeping within us, howsoever you want to imagine it. If you look at this equation from a spiritual point of view, imagine energy as God, mass as us and c squared—the speed of light squared—as awakening.

As per the Bhagavad Gita, the formless form of God resides within us, so maybe that is the creative energy that resides within us. In Christianity, it is mentioned that the kingdom of God is within us. In Sikhism, God is within the soul and the soul is within God. Again, it's a case of this creative energy, God, being within you.

For Islam, there's a very famous quotation which says, “what you seek is within you”, again referring to that infinite energy stored within us which we are classifying as God. For Judaism, it is said that the divine soul is literally part of God. In Buddhism, you come to the conclusion that there is Buddha in every one of us.

Basically, all these spiritual philosophies are referring to that one energy which resides within us, which scientifically can also be proven as E = mc².

This equation is not going to change even if the mass was taken elsewhere in the world. The same mass in Japan, Canada, Egypt, India or elsewhere is going to result in the same energy. That's the point I'm trying to make.
